This visa is granted to a person who invests—directly or indirectly—a minimum amount of his own capital in the amount of US$40,000 for the purposes of reforestation within the Republic of Panama.
Direct Investment: Disbursement is made directly for the acquisition or lease of lands, equipment, machinery, vehicles, tools, plantations, investigation, industrialization, insurance, contracting, and subcontracting of reforestation firms for the execution of the reforestation plan, roads, bridges, civil works, and construction needed for the reforestation development. Disbursement also covers all other current and administrative expenses for the operation and maintenance of the reforestation.
Indirect Investment: Money is allocated to the purchase of bonds, shares, and values of corporations dedicated to reforestation and related activities. The indirect investment must be done through a corporation formed by the applicant, of which the applicant must be a Director.
Documents Required
1. Power of attorney (our firm provides this document)
2. Certified check or cashier check in the amount of $100.00 issued in favor of “Tesoro Nacional”
3. Certified check or cashier check in the amount of $500.00 issued in favor of “Ministerio de Gobierno y Justicia” in fulfillment of repatriation deposit.
4. Four (4) passport sized photographs
5. Certificate of Good Health, issued by a licensed Panamanian physician (valid for 3 months)
6. Police Record from the country of residency of the last two years. This document must come duly authenticated by the Panamanian Consulate or apostilled.
7. Valid passport original and copy of the entire passport (minimum 6 months of validity).
8. Certificate of Inscription of the company recorded at the Reforestation Registry of ANAM (Panama National Association of the Environment)
9. Certificate issued by the auditor of the company certifying that the applicant made the investment (direct or indirect) for the minimum amount of US$40,000, and that this investment is part of the assets of the corporation.
10. Bank certificate in the name of the company.
11. Proof of the direct or indirect investment: authenticated copies of the share certificates (paid and released), along invoices of expenses incurred.
Note: All documents submitted must be duly translated into Spanish by a licensed Panamanian public translator and must come authenticated by the Consulate of Panama or apostilled.

General Overview about The Reforestation Visa
This visa is granted to a person who invests—directly or indirectly—a minimum amount of his own capital in the amount of US$40,000 for the purposes of reforestation within the Republic of Panama. The investment must be made through a duly accredited reforestation company, and the investment must be committed until final harvest (minimum 10 years or more, depending on the type of reforestation project undertaken).
This visa is granted for one year, after which the person must renew the visa, thus acquiring permanent immigrant status with the right to be issued a Panamanian ID card (cedula). Five years after obtaining the permanent status, the holder is eligible to apply for Panamanian citizenship. |
